How does Venus Viva NanoFractional Radio Frequency work?

How does Venus Viva NanoFractional Radio Frequency work?

Venus Viva NanoFractional RF with smart scan technology

A transformative non-surgical solution for skin resurfacing that works by having tiny pins create micro-dermal wounds and safely delivering heat through the skin’s surface.

The combination of these technologies, smart scans’ custom depth and width of skin penetration, and RF heat delivery make it superior in treating fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.

Venus Viva powerfully stimulates fibroblasts and activates dormant skin cells. As a result, your body intensively produces new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, tightens the skin, and removes bad collagen with astonishing visible results.

Frequently asked questions

I have dark skin – can I still get this treatment done?

Yes. Venus Viva™ uses technology that’s safe for all skin tones.

Am I a good candidate for this treatment and will it work for me?

The ideal candidate is anyone who shows signs of skin damage, including deep wrinkles, scars, visible pores, stretch marks, and/or anything else that affects the skin’s texture.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

  • An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator/pacemaker or any other active electrical implant in the body
  • Any permanent implant or injected substance around the treatment area
  • Any active conditions in the treatment area (e.g. rash)
  • History of skin disorders or very dry skin
  • Current or history of cancer (including pre-malignant moles)
  • Severe concurrent conditions (e.g. cardiac disorders)
  • Pregnant or nursing

How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive 3-4 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

How often/far apart should the treatments be?

Treatments are done 4 weeks apart.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup before your treatment session, and avoid tanning. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. If you have excessive hair in the treatment area, shave it beforehand. It also helps to be prepared with information about your medical history.

How long does a treatment session last?

Each session lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

What does the treatment feel like?

You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. Your face will then feel warm.

Will it be painful?

We use anesthetics to make Venus Viva™ treatments comfortable. You’ll feel gradual heat, similar to the feeling of sunburn, and your face will look red right after the treatment.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Your skin will be red and feel warm afterward. You can ease this by fanning or exposing the area to cool air. Within the first 24 hours, only apply topicals that have been recommended or prescribed by your treatment provider. The warm feeling should go away within 24 hours.

Is there downtime after the treatment and how long is recovery time?

Yes, the downtime usually lasts for 24 hours post-treatment (or up to 2 days for more aggressive treatments), unlike lasers or other treatments where recovery or downtime lasts more than 10 days. Your skin will be red and sensitive for the first 24 hours. After 24 hours, you may put on makeup and resume your regular skincare routine. You should always apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) to maintain your results and prevent sun damage. Avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

How long will the results last and are they permanent?

After your final treatment, your results will continue to improve. As need for a touch up treatments may be needed.

Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

We recommend applying stem cell-based products that significantly reduce downtime and amplify treatment results. They are available in our office. If your skin feels hot, you can use a fan to cool it down. Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area. For the first 24 hours, only apply products that are expressly recommended by your treatment provider, as there are many topicals that could cause severe irritation. After 24 hours, you should apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30), preferably one without chemicals. Also, avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

Can I put on makeup or lotion right after my treatment?

No. You should wait 24 hours after your treatment to apply any makeup or lotion. Some topicals or skin care may be recommended by your treatment provider.
